Blue Christmas or The Christmas Pearl

I'll have a Pink Christmas, that's how the song goes, no?  Ok Ok Ok So it is a blue Christmas...Yes, Elvis; I know, but I had a blue Christmas a few years back and it wasn't so great for me... although I do highly recommend Mary Kay Andrew's book Blue Christmas...one of my all time favorites this time of year. Blue Christmas and The Christmas Pearl are two books that I haven't gone one christmas without reading since they were released. Yup, I'm a southern girl and I love my southern books. Of course I also feel like being a southern girl, I have to admit that I do have a HUGE crush on Elvis Presley, and if would've been around for my blue christmas....well it probably wouldn't have been so blue.....Back to the point here.  So both of these books
are filled with all things that I love. Blue Christmas has a main character that I would love to switch places with in life. She lives in Savannah, GA and owns an antique on one of the squares. She goes to a small treasure auction and purchases
a box of shiny brites. Along with the boxes of shiny brites (which are blue of course) is a jewelry box. In side she finds a vintage blue christmas tree pin, which she loves. I'm not gonna give a re-write of the whole book, but if you love any of the stuff I just described then I suggest picking up this quick holiday feel good book. You will find yourself wanting a blue christmas, I did.

The Christmas Pearl is a totally different style book, but I also would jump headfirst into the life of this book if given half a chance. It is a book set in current times in Charleston, SC. Even though it is set in the here and present. The story teller manages to take you back to a time when things were so much different. Christmas was a holiday, a time for family, a time to make time. We are all so busy these days, we often don't stop to enjoy what we have. I know I have been so busy this last week, Christmas will be come and gone and I will be left wondering what I did that made me miss Christmas. The family in this book gets a surprise visit from an unexpected guest that gives the family the most unexpected gifts. I know we are all busy, but I like to try and find the time to slow down and read, and when I can't thats what they make audiobooks for. I own both of these on audio, and I know that when I am laughing so hard at Blue Christmas....or crying with The Christmas Pearl...people who pass me wonder just what in the world that girl is doing. I wish I could share with them like I am sharing with you. Read these books, you won't regret it.

Perfectly Pink and Pretty

I was meandering though Flickr today....pilfering through the pink project, which is were I stumbled upon these beauties. I have always, always, always wanted a set of this kind of lights. This particular set was pink perfection. So of course I had to find where I could purchase them. Turns out the Sugar Pink Boutique which is who I was checking out on Flickr SELLS THEM. So they are currently on there way to my house in South Carolina. Of course once I find the shop Sugar Pink Boutique on Etsy that is when total madness takes over. I find so much that I want however I do limit my purchases to a few trimmings that I will hopefully be able to use on my Blythe size closets. Of course they are yet to be made, hopefully soon though. This will just inspire me to get myself in gear and get the things made.
I saved the best for last. Two of my very favorite things......the color pink and cotton candy. I mean who doesn't love cotton candy. I found these little lights that look like pink and blue cotton candy. I mean don't you just want to eat them? I am so excited for all of these goodies to arrive! Also i am super excited to find this super cool new store on etsy, that can feed my need of vintage style trimmings and some other unexpected super cool finds.

A new place to shop....Just what I needed

You know how people always say you can never have too much of a good thing? Well I feel the same way about stores and shopping. There is no such thing as too many good stores or too much good shopping. I met this really cool chick (we will call her D) over on Blythe Kingdom (which is another place I have spent too much money lately...but I will blog about that later). So D and I talked all day back and forth about all the stuff we have in common. She just blogged over on her blog Joyful Girl Gypsy Heart

about anthropologie I am a HUGE fan of Anthro. So she tells me of this place called Free People. I click my way on over there and oh my gosh...it is to die for!! Its vintage meets comfort meets gypsy meets awesomeness. I really do love it. So much that after my new friend D gives me 15% off coupon I find something I just can't live without.
I love me some fair isle print goodies. They had this is coco, red and I believe in blue. It was all I could do not to purchase the coco one too. This one just seemed so right for this time of year. I can not wait to get my hands on it. I want it yesterday!! So for anyone who is reading this that is like I was and you haven't heard of free people. Go check them out,
I promise you will find something that you just can't leave without.
I can't promise you will be as lucky as me though and get a super
awesome new thermal/sweater and a pretty cool new friend, all in
the same day, like I did!! Ta-Ta for now.

**oh and yeah these pictures aren't mine they belong to free people.com

Frost the Snowman

So in the spirit of Christmas, I went to my first play last night. My bestfriend's little boy Joey was in Frosty the Snowman. He was phenomenal, of course I may be just a little biased but I don't think that was the case. Either way it was just what I needed to get myself a little more in the Christmas spirit.

It seems the older I get the faster time passes. I remember as a child it seemed like Christmas would never get here, and now as an adult we blink and Christmas has come and gone. I wish we could all just slow down and enjoy the holidays, but unfortunately that rarely happens around my house. This year I am going to try and find some time to set aside and just enjoy the beauty and blessing around me. Won't to join me?

Blythe Obession is back and in full force

So I don't know about a year ago I started a blythe collection...and it has grown as has my passion for the beauty. I have found an amazing community and started some great friendships. As I typed this I have several bids out there on ebay, and multiple packages making the long hauls from overseas. I guess part of my fascination with my Blythes is that no matter what I feel like, my girls are always smiling. I also like the fact that I can dress them anyway I want, again no matter how I may look...my girls are always rocking the styles! And finally I guess a part of me is hanging on to my youngster years. What girl doesn't like to play with dolls?? lol

So I totally missed updating on Halloween!!

So yeah I totally missed my update on Halloween....It was a perfect fall day here, the wind was blowing and it was crisp outside. I did manage to carve a pumpkin, roast the seeds and finish the day off with Ghost Hunters Live. I did however also manage to fall asleep on the couch before it was over. So here are a few pictures from my day.....

the countdown to Halloween has begun.....

When witches go riding,
and black cats are seen,
the moon laughs and whispers,
‘tis near Halloween.
